The H.A.D.L.E.Y. Players winds down its 30th season with Gladys’ Dilemma written by Gertrude Jeannette and directed by Ward Nixon. Gladys’ Dilemma is a light drama about the pros and cons Gladys (Valerie Tekosky) and her husband, LeRoy (Rodney Sheley), face with an unexpected/unintended mid-life pregnancy. Margo (Colette Bryce), Gladys’ best friend, her son Elsworth (Curtis L. The Resurrection of Alice

by Perri Gaffney

Our Black History Production

Actress Perri Gaffney performs dozens of characters in her one-woman show, "The Resurrection of Alice".

Actress Perri Gaffney performs dozens of characters in her one-woman show, “The Resurrection of Alice”.

Take a journey with Alice, a young girl in rural 1939 South Carolina whose parents promise her to the family’s wealthy benefactor while she’s still just a child. This moving, exciting, energetic, and insightful piece is based on a true story, and it explores the difficulties of race and pre-arranged marriages, and the ultimate survival of spirit. There are dozens of characters in the story, all brought to life by the actress.

Perri Gaffney has performed the piece across the country, but this is the first production in New York.

The high-spirited Gaffney has appeared in regional theaters across the country, including the world-renowned Oregon Shakespeare Festival and as Mrs. Dickson in the première of Lynn Nottage’s “Intimate Apparel” at the Actors Theatre, Louisville. She played Nurse Bentley on the popular soap opera “As The World Turns,” and has also appeared in episodes of “Law & Order” and “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.” Perri has has several film credits as well.

A new audiobook of her original work is also available as an audio DVD for your home computer or car MP3 player. It is available at the theater and through the Perri Tales website. (click here)
